Re: IB to ESA Support group success without WCA.

Not quite sure what to make of this ESA 85A report as we have never had anything like this before. Basically the award is for 18 months.

Advice: 'Client meets the Support Group criteria as they have sever functional disability'.

Prognosis: ' Advise that a return to work could be considered within 18 months'

Basically goes on to say good evidence of client 'not being able to mobilise 50 metres unaided by another person, because of significant discomfort or exhaustion' due to Spinal problems hence LCW&WRA.

'Available evidence suggest a review in medium term'

Obviously pleased with outcome, but dont no mention of points (if any) on at least 2 other descriptions we both feel I should have met ? This report sounds to us that once the 'Registered Nurse' realised that I met the first mobilising descriptor, they either ignored or stopped reading the rest of the considerable documented evidence we sent,or so it seems, but how can we ever know ?

Initial thoughts ?

Congratulations on the award.

You don't score points when placed in the Support Group, you just need to meet one of more of the relevant descriptors.

Whilst you may meet more than one SG descriptor, once the ATOS "doctor" has identified one, they will often stop any further investigations.

Thanks for the reply Gordon.

Time to relax a little for now,so many people including my wife, surgeons,Support workers,CAB and my local GP put so much time and information into this worry monster over a 14 week period leading up to the ESA50 form being sent and the result being known.

Good luck everyone, and once again thank you to all concerned on this wonderful website in helping us put our side of the argument across, best money ever spent.
