Hi,

Can you tell me exactly when you are put on the esa assessment rate. I have recently received the letter telling me about my changeover from incapacity benefit to esa.

Does the assessment rate start from when the letter is sent out, or is it when the esa form has arrived, or is it when they receive the form?

Thanks

I think that you are cofused here pjd.

If are being migrated over to ESA from IB/IS/SDA, then you will remain in receipt of the IB/IS/SDA until a decision has been made on whether you qualify for an award of ESA in The WRAG or SG, or you are found fit for work.

If you had to appeal a fit for work decision, and also provided a "Fit Note" under this scenario, you would then be entitled to the assessment rate of ESA either until the fit for work decision was changed in your favour at the automatic reconsideration stage, or if not then, until the time of the appeals tribunal decision.

New claimants are paid assessment rate of ESA in the assessment phase, until they are assessed under The WCA, which should be done by week 13 of the new claim, this does not apply to you as an "ESA Migrant".

Thanks bro58,

Yes, I was thinking that everyone goes on esa assessment rate when the changeover process begins, so when I got the letter I thought that maybe be the start of it, but I wasn't sure when.

Thanks for letting me know. :)
