Final PIP assesment criteria was created by micksville
I read the final criteria on 13/12/12 and the new mobility descriptors of 'standing and moving' are more confusing than ever...A local welfar rights adviser tells me today that some are interpreting it as wheelchair users might not attract any points if they can self mobilise...i.e propel a manual wheelchair themselves. I didnt read it that way as it says "stand and then move" which implies moving in an upright position. But it doesnt mention wheelchairs at all and moving with an aid or appliance is taken into account. It merely says in the notes " Aids and appliances may include walking sticks, crutches and prosthesis.. no mention eityher way of wheelchairs Could anyone clarify what this means for manual wheelchair users in PIP?

We appear to have missed MV's original post, so to try and answer both of you.

The final draft of the PIP reglations was issued on 13/12/12. See Schedule 1 of the following for details of the descriptors.

www.legislation.gov.uk/ukdsi/2013/9780111532072/contents

All references to wheelchairs have been removed from the descriptors, a wheelchair user, either temporary or permanent, will be assessed on their ability to stand and walk, using any appropriate aids such as a walking sticks or crutches.
