Just one last question, is it normal for the form to returned to a p.o. box in chester?

Hi pjd,

Yes it is normal for the return address to be a P.O. Box number.

I believe Chester, Jupiter Drive, is a Mail Distribution Centre that covers claimants in several different areas.

Thanks bro58,

I notice the form is smaller than ever now. You would think they don't want people to put as much info as possible, hmmm.

Just to double check, is it better to send in a written esa form, or type and print out an online version. (loads more pages when printing out though)

But can you send something recorded/special delivery to a PO Box?

The woman at DWP said there was no note on the system and that ATOS send the form out. I asked it I should call ATOS and the woman said "no need to worry" call us back in a couple of weeks if you have not received it as ATOS have a backlog.

I am inclined to wait a couple of weeks as this will give extra time to get all the info together and the supporting letters etc but I am also concerned that ATOS may claim that they have sent it out and it has got lost in the post.

I would contact ATOS, the address is above, only they will know if an ESA50 has been sent, if it has been sent then the four weeks to complete it have started, whilst you may think it will give you extra weeks to prepare by leaving it, this is not the case, the form will be sent when ATOS decide to send it, irrelevant of any contact you make or do not make with them.

Hi,

Can you tell me if I contact atos by email, would it look to them that I have a computer and am able to use my hands.? The fact is the email address is a very old one that is occassionally used for contacting my consultants every now and then. My sister tends to type the thing up on her laptop as my hands get too pained etc. And when I am able to do it, its not without a worsening of my symptoms.

Hi pjd,

It is purely a matter of choice, as to which option is best for you. The adavantage of the PDf version, is that you can edit and save at will, and that you are left with an exact copy, once you print it off.

See : ESA50 too big for the envelope

Sending Documents to the DWP or ATOS
