copies to DWP? was created by teabag
hi i'm transferring from IB to ESA should I send a copy of the filled in form to DWP office also i am hoping to get a doctors report for Atos should i also send a copy of this to DWP.
I have agrophobia as part of my ME the lovely people at Atos seemed to have ignored this and have sent me medical date for the 25th January miles away, I have been told to get a letter from my GP asking for a home medical when i pointed out that i may not be able to get this letter before the medical date as at the moment if u want to book to see a doctor there is a 2-3 week waiting time they said that i needed to get it faxed through by the 18th January.
I'm seeing the doctor 2morrow but am worried sick as reading on the forums here its difficult to get a home medical.
Before I got the form I did ask one of the GP's at my local surgery if they would write a letter and they refused saying that if DWP or ATos wanted information they would write directly to them for it. Yet i note from the letter which came with the appointment that they say to bring any medical evidence on the day. So i've written a letter to the dr I see tomorrow saying that i'm prepared to pay for it in the hope I dont get a NO again. I didnt think they caould refuse to write a letter I never had any problem with my old GP and letters.

Hi tb,

Some people choose to send copies of their ESA50 and any extra evidence to the DWP ESA DM, as well as to ATOS. This ensures that the DM has access to exactly the same information when coming to a decision as the ATOS HCP has, when making recommendations.

This would obviously be advantageous in a scenario where information sent or given to ATOS was lost, or failed to find its way to the DM, via them.

ATOS should not expect you to travel for more than 90 minutes each way, to and from the assessment centre. See ATOS website for further information :

www.atoshealthcare.com/claimants/before_your_assessment

You are right in that ATOS are most reluctant to grant Home Assessments.

When you see the G.P. you may wish to enquire whether they have received an : ESA 113 Questionnaire , already.

As you will see at Question 6, the G.P. is asked whether the claimant could attend an ATOS assessment centre.

With regards to your G.P. providing letters of support, etc. G.P.'s are not contractually obliged to provide such letters or reports for their patients, even if the patient offers to pay, therefore if the G.P. refuses, there is little that you can do, except maybe try another G.P.

Hopefully, your G.P. will be supportive in this matter, please let us know. :)

I have phoned surgery every week asking if ATOS or DWP had been in touch and been told no. I have just looked at the directions by public transport which they have sent its a joke they've allowed me 6mins to walk to first bus stop and not allowed for waiting times for the bus that takes me to the next change of transport by their calculations it will take 56 minutes doesnt take into account my walking speed. Not that I would be able to go by public transport anyway, they know this and I cant find anyone to drive me there as its on a friday afternoon and there's no nearby parking unless your very lucky.

Hi tb,

You could do, however, again the G.P. would not be obliged to comply. He would however have to fill the ESA113 in, if one was sent to him by The DWP.

The DWP have no obligation to send an ESA113 to your G.P. though.

Hi bro58,

Just been reading this thread about taking a copy of the esa113 form to your gp to fill in. I would have thought would be seen as 'influencing' the gp, or something like that.

Are you definately allowed to take a copy to your gp then?. I am due to see my gp tomoz and I am wondering whether it is best to get a support letter from the gp or ask them to fill the esa 113 in instead.

Any advice most welcome.
