Hi everyone,

Just need some clarification with who sends out the esa form and covering letter.

1. Is jobcentrplus the dwp?

2. When you call the 0845 telephone number on the jobcentreplus letter who exactly are you getting through to?

I know bro58 said theoretically the process is supposed to be, DWP refer you to ATOS, ATOS send out ESA50, claimant returns ESA50 to ATOS, ATOS carry out ESA WCA, and make recommendations, ATOS send ESA50 and claimant file back to DWP DM, DM makes decision. - has anyone else had their form and covering letter from the dwp instead of atos?

2. My friend received her form and covering letter from jobcentreplus, so I am very confused, as you know dwp are saying the form is nothing to do with them, and atos are telling me they have no referral for me.

:(

1. Yes.

2. A DWP (JCP) Call Centre. The days are gone where you could gain initial phone contact with a particular Benefits Centre, unless you have managed to obtain a direct phone number.(not likely)

3.The process is indeed supposed to be administered as I have advised. I think that the confusion has come about, as ATOS are sometimes based in JCP's and Benefit Delivery Centres (BDC's)

Further as I have previously stated some BDC's such as Chester are in fact Mail Distribution Centres, so a number of JCP's and or ATOS offices may have Chester as their mailing address, however they will have different PO Box numbers, depending on which JCP or ATOS office they are distributing mail to.

Thanks bro58,

I though the government were supposed to be making the process simpler and not more complicated.

As there is no record at the dwp and at atos, of the esa form being sent out, and I cannot get any details about the lack of a supporting letter and no date of return. I think I don't have any choice but to return the form back to atos blank and I just have to hope it does not adversely affect my benefits.

What a mess.

Hope your all wrapped up nice and warm in this chilly weather. :)

Hi pjd,

"I though the government were supposed to be making the process simpler and not more complicated."

What they say, and what they do are two different matters.

I am one of the lucky ones, in that I can stay warm. :)

Good Luck !!!
