ESA contribution based is obviously based on past conts, no where on the letter tells you which qualifying period!

My hubby has just beem told his 365 days finishes Dec. 2013.

What then................nothing because I work full time!! So its purely means tested.

Is this true?

I will be 64 in October, work full time and choose to do this but we dont qualify for any benefits, why should we, but I am a little peed off about ESA, to say the least.

Any clues as to what next...............

If you work full time then this will preclude your husband receiving ESA(IR), I am afraid that the Government expect you to support your husband in these circumstances.

With regard his contributions.

If your husband was transferred from IB, then the relevant period will that used for his IB.

If this was a new claim, made I assume in 2012, the it will have used the tax years 2009-10 and 2010-11

When his payments stop, he could make a new claim for ESA(CB) in 2014 based on the tax years 2011-2012 and 2012-2013, providing that he has sufficient NI Contributions during this period and that they were not used to determine his previous period of ESA(CB). He should satisfy the other requirement through the NI Credits paid while he is receiving ESA.
