Hi To All,

I am hoping somebody can clarify that the document appearing at ‘www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/pip-assessment-guide.pdf’ is the latest and up to date, even though it is dated 22nd January, 2012. (posts on other site say that although this is wrongly dated, it should be dated 22/1/13).

The reason why I ask (this has appeared on a similar website) is at page 74/75 of document, examples are given, and reading through example given to ‘Mr. Y’s’ condition and explanation of his moving around capability, from my interpretation, things may not look as bad as they first seem…or have I (and others) totally lost the plot!!!

Have a look and tell us what your reading of ‘worked example 2’ is, please.

Hi f1969,

As far as I am aware, the document is current and upto date, and has been dated incorrectly, which seems to be the general consensus on rightsnet, as you will see from the link on this post in our Spotlights area : www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/forum?view=top...85481&start=18#97832

Therefore, any information therein should be current.

Many thanks bro58. Do you have any views on the example given? And does it mean this descriptor, reading alongside 'worked example 2' and 'Mr.Y's' situation, is not as black and white as originally thought?

Hi f1969,

I will have a read of the section that you mention, when I have time, and make a comment if I feel that I can.

However, Steve the site owner, is in the process of compiling a PIP Claims Guide for members, which should cover all aspects of claiming PIP. :)

Hi f1969,

Having read the extract that you refer to, I assume that you mean the "Repeatedly" aspect of it.

A claimant should be able to carry out any of the activities "Repeatedly" to be assessed as being able to carry them out at all.

This rule also applies with ESA activities, Repeatedly, Reliably, and Safely, in a Timely Fashion.

Further explanation can be seen here : www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/personal-indep...ip/pip-points-system

As previously stated, Steve will be publishing a PIP Claims Guide for members, where all will be explained. :)

In the Worked Example on page 76 of the guidance notes I cannot understand how someone can walk up to 100m and get the enhanced rate of mobility given that the Descriptor states "Can stand and then move more then 1 metre but no more than 20 metres, either aided or unaided.
