ESA CB To ESA IR?

Hi

I have been on esa cb support group since December 2012. I also get dla care & mobility at high rate. I understand you cannot get disability premiums on esa cb? What I would like to know is - can I transfer to esa ir to get these disability premiums? Thanks in advance.

Hi srq,

If you were transferred over from an other benefit, such as IB, IS or SDA, then you should receive no less than you were doing before the transfer :

What will I be paid?

If you have recently made a fresh claim for ESA, and been placed into The SG, you may be entiled to IR ESA top-ups to your CB ESA due to the disability minimum income guarantee, as you are in receipt of HR Care of DLA.

If the paragraph above covers you circumstances, you may have to fill in an ESA3 form, : Sample ESA 3 Form where you will have to provide your financial details, and provide a copy of the DLA Care Component award letter.

A claimant can receive CB ESA with an IR ESA top up, just as they could receive IB with an IS top up.

I was transferred from ib to esa cb support group, December 2012. I automatically thought after 365 days - you are eligible to be transferred to esa ir support group? Thanks for the information and I will try to get the esa3 form. Upon doing this - this will not effect my dla?

Time in the Support Group for Contributary ESA is not time-limited like the WRAG, you would not automatically be asked to apply for income-related ESA. etting income-related ESA (or a 'top up') would not affect your DLA.

Hi srq,

If you where previously in receipt of IB, were you receiving the disability premiums due to the HRC DLA then, in the form of Income Support top-ups ?, or is the DLA award recent.

As I have stated, you should receive no less than you were previously receiving on IB, including any IS top-ups.
