Doctor visit. was created by jottom
I recently had the dreaded home visit for DLA. It was a very weird experience. Can I include the strange remarks that were made in any appeal ( I am assuming I will need to appeal)
Does anyone know how long after the Drs visit I would be likely to hear from DWP ?
Thankyou

Hi j,

Please see the following FAQ's regarding your query :

How long does a DLA claim take to be decided?

It's one of those, "How long is a piece of string" questions :) , you would have to contact the DWP for an update.

DLA Medical – What forms to ask for?

This is an example of what may be expected at a DLA "Medical" :

DLA medical examination

You could quote comments made by the examining HCP, but unless you had a covert audio/video recording, it would be your word against theirs'.

I recorded it, thankfully. He said the most amazing thing... he said he had NEVER in 18 years met a single person applying for DLA that was 'faking'.

Hi j,

That is a most ambiguous comment to make.

Once you are aware of the decision, you should request copies of any relevant documentation, such as the Medical Report, as advised in the FAQ link that I have provided.

You can then compare what was said, with what was written.

Hopefully, you will gain a DLA Award, and you will not have to appeal.

However, a good philosophy to adopt, is plan for the worse and hope for the best. :)

Please keep us updated by reposting on this topic thread.

I will keep you updated. It was for a DLA review.
Thank you for the links.

No problem j, :)

In that case, hopefully you will retain your current DLA award, or have it increased, (If possible)
