ib to esa - any exemptions if on DLA was created by lyndilou
I sent off my forms to ATOS in December and today got a letter saying I have to have a medical but I thought I had read that if you get DLA with both components at the higher rate you may be exempt. I did tell them I was on DLA higher rates so maybe under the new rules it doesnt appy? Can anyone help clarify for me please?

Hi l,

I am afraid that being in receipt of DLA with either component, for any length of award does not exempt you from any aspect of The ESA WCA, including a face to face assessment.

To help you prepare, it may help if you read : ESA Medical – What to expect and the associated sections of The WCA Handbook, which is the second from bottom link on this page :

ESA Claims Guides

You are allowed a companion, further information can be found here :

Hello
I have a letter stating that my medical will take place on the 4th floor of the jobcentreplus office can I ask for it to be on the ground floor in case the lifts are not working and of course in case of fire as I cannot use the stairs? Is this part of a test? Or is it normal - I dont want to appear pushy before I even get to the medical but I just cant do stairs at all!

Mod Edit : Please do not start a new topic for a related query. :)

Merged for continuity.

Hi l,

It would seem that a number of ATOS Assessment Centres have disabled access problems such as this.

You should contact ATOS ASAP and inform them of your access problems. You can e-mail them from here : This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Here is a list of ATOS AC's with details regarding access, etc. :
