hello again, I just wanted to give an update - I went for my assessment yesterday! I was so nervous but I had read all I could on here in order to know what to expect thank goodness. When I arrived I was advised there was a delay so may have to wait a while. I actually went in 35 minutes after my appointment time. I had a lady assessor who was very nice, she explained why I had been ask to attend - because I had been on IB and that it was all changing to ESA etc. She told me exactly what she was going to do and what would happen. She said because I have heart/circulation problems and arthritis she would ask about the heart problems first and then the arthritis ones. She asked how I felt about my conditions so I explained as best I could that I was in pain and had mobility problems most of the time with the arthritis and also I have bad circulation which, when these are put together this makes movement very difficult. She didn't seem to be trying to trip me up at all (but I will know better once I get the decision!) I told her exactly how things are. She asked what aids I had at home although I had put all these on the forms. She asked some of the questions that are on here such as do I go shopping but after a few questions she said she didn't need to go any further as she had enough information. She said I may hear in 6 weeks time but she didn't think it would be sooner than that. She also explained that I may still be called for assessment in the future too, but she said she had to tell everyone the same information. All in all she as pleasant and made me feel as if she really understood what I was saying but as I say I will know better soon! I will update on here once I do hear anything. I am so pleased I found this site as it helped me with the form filling and to be aware of what to expect at the assessment. By the way I didn't have to do anything physical.

I am glad that you were treated with courtesy and respect, here's hoping that the result is in your favour.

Lynda

Thanks for the update, Decisions can be anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months if not longer, hopefully you will hear quickly.

You can request the medical report by asking for your ESA85 from your local DWP office.

thanks Gordon And Mrs Hurtyback I hope everyone else gets treated as well I did. Also I forgot to mention I heard about my DLA, I have been given both components at the higher rate indefinitely ....but then they did add or until the system changes (words to that effect!) So until the PIP comes in I suppose. I am 60 now and I read on here that it may not be for a couple of years, I officially get my state pension when I am 62 1/2 - only just over 2 years time and I was wondering if that would make me more likely to have to apply for PIP sooner rather than later, anyone any ideas?
