Will I be sent a PIP form or a DLA form this year?

Hello all,

I have three questions and hoping someone can help me with them,

1) Does anyone know if I will be sent a PIP form later this year or a DLA form?

The reason why I thought I have to apply for PIP soon is because it says on the letter I got the other day says;

"If your existing Disability living allowance is due to end or be reviewed on or after 7th Oct 2013 and you have not already received a renewal letter about your disability living allowance then you will be asked to make a claim for Personal INdependant Living allowance. We will write to you in plenty of time if you need to take any action."

18th Nov 2013 my Mobility and care for DLA ends or is up for renewal on that date by total coincidence!!! So it looks like I am in the worst category for everyone with DLA in terms of being one of the first to be kicked off DLA and have to apply for PIP.

Page 1 is saying "the purpose of this letter is to give you proof of entitlement to your benefit, information about DLA rates, Information about information you must tell us about, important information about how DLA is being replaced by PIP, there is more information at the end of this letter, please read carefully."

The it goes onto just say what I already know about my DLA, ie rates etc etc untill page 6 it then says "important information please read carefully

"A new benefit called PIP will begin to replace DLA for disabled people from 8th April 2013, you dont need to contact us about PIP now."

The it just fills the page talking about PIP and what it is etc....

Page 7

PIP is being introduced in a number of stages over a number of years. That means most people who receive DLA now will not be affected in the near future.

Then it says

"If your existing Disability living allowance is due to end or reviewed on or after 7th Oct 2013 and you have not already received a renewal letter about your disability living allowance then you will be asked to make a claim for Personal INdependant Living allowance. We will write to you in plenty of time if you need to take any action."

"Everyone else who receives DLA will not be affected until after 2015 or later unless you report a change."

"If after we contact you about applying for PIP you decide to apply your DLA will continue to be paid to you untill we decide about your claim for PIP, if you do not apply for PIP your DLA will end"

Basically thats its I have missed out parts about people over 65 and irrelevant info.

So I am still unsure exactly whats going on?? Does this mean I will have to apply for PIP before Nov this year? As thats when my DLA is up until, Nov 2013?

On a previous letter from last year when I was awarded DLA it says

"I have only awarded you DLA until 18th Nov 2013 as to how much help you will need then uncertain. We will ask you if you want to claim DLA again before 18th Nov 2013"

2) my other question is one of the reasons I get it is for IBS and I am just wondering whether or not I will be able to get PIP for IBS Irritable Bowl Syndrome? Does anyone know? If so what is the criteria in relation to symptoms of IBS that I would get points for? Ie losing control of bowls a certain amount of times per week etc?

I was also wondering what sort of medical evidence/reports I could get for Irritable Bowl Syndrome for PIP, if PIP will allow claims for IBS that is?

3) Part of DLA is exportable to other EU Country’s if you live there, however will PIP also be exportable to other EU countries?

I would be very grateful if anyone can help.

To answer your questions.

(1) Given your renewal date, it seems likely that you will be moved to PIP on renewal.

I think it unlikely, although not impossible, that last year's award of DLA for a year is connected to the introduction of PIP.

Like DLA, PIP is not awarded because a claimant has a particular condition, but because of the effects of that condition.

There is a draft PIP claim guide in the DLA section of the Members area, incontinence issues are covered on page 24.

(3) The exporting of UK benefits to other countries is a complicated area of benefit law, which we are unable to provide advice on, you need to get face to face advice on this matter.

Gordon,

Thanks for your reply.

I wanted to ask who I would need to get advice on about the exportability of ESA/PIP and DLA?

IS there someway on your website of taking a PIP test to see what I would score at all? If so, please send me the link. I would most appreciate it.

We did have one from the 2nd link that I have provided in my previous post in this topic thread, but as the Regs were changed last minute it will need to be ammended, which the site owner, Steve, is in the process of doing.

There is a "DRAFT" PIP Claims Guide, top link on the page from my 1st link previously provide, and samples of the PIP Claims Forms etc near the end of the thread on my 3rd link previously provided, :
