Thanks

I am sorry but the Moderators cannot tell members what to to tick or enter into their ESA50, we can only explain the rules under which the system operates.

To try and explain "significant discomfort" in more detail, if you were able to walk 150m but always experienced significant discomfort after 75m, then only the first 75m should be taken into account for the purposes of ESA, not the full 150m.

Guys

Please have a look at the How to show you score points even if you can actually do an activity on page 24 of the ESA Claims on Physical Grounds guide, this explains the point in more detail.

Just about to send the form off it's due to be there for Wednesday so going to send it Next Day Delivery kill two birds with the one stone wasn't well enough to sit at the weekend and fill it in for too long.

Page 8 Getting around safely.

I have episodes whereby my back goes into spasm and my legs give way from under me would it be advisable to put this in this box ?

Where would I enter the fact that I have difficulty in dressing/undressing due to inability to bend I can't even cut my own toenails dry my feet?

Where would I put I have difficuties in getting into and out of bed?

The old incapacity forms had boxes which clearly defined such areas but this form is so grey it is nearly black !!

Will wait until I hear from one of the mods as to suggestions of where to put these difficulties before I post the form this afternoon.

Would like to thank everyone who has answered my queries

I am afraid that I think it unlikley that you will score points for Question 8, based on your reasons as to why you have problems. If you read the ESA descriptor for Question 8, it is in our ESA Claims on Physical Grounds guide, you will see that it states "due to sensory impairment" as being the underlying cause needed to score points in this section.

There is no specific section that covers any difficulties with dressing or getting out of bed, if you can, you should relate these difficulties to the ESA descriptors, for example; depending on your limitations, would your problems with dressing be covered under question 3, Reaching. I cannot see anything that would cover problems with getting in and out of bed.

Failing that you could mention them in the section marked "About your illnesses and disabilities".

Remember, whilst it is important to mention things like this, as they go towards showing an overall level of disability, it is your ability to meet the tests in questions 1-17 that is being looked at, and willl result in you being successful in your claim.

Thanks Gordon that's what I thought too. I have included it already in About my illness so will now print it off and send it off....

After that tonight I will pour myself a large glass of Whisky and hopefully sleep better at least for one night...

Will be sure to come back to the forum to let everyone know how I got on.

Thanks for all your help it's a great site keep up the hard work.
