Thanks Gordon,
My thinking was that having to use a scooter would be background evidence of my restricted walking ability.

The problem with scooters is that someone who can walk 300-400m and would not expect to be awarded DLA HRM, might have one if there local shopping facility is a large mall, so they can be indicative of a problem, but do not provide confirmation of one.

Not sure if my experience will help YT

I used my use of shopmobility scooters and powerchairs in my case for appeal of WRAG to support group in ESA.

I advise extreme caution in following my example, as DLA may be different, and would always take notice of the advice of the experienced moderators over any from ordinary members like myself.

I got copies from shopmobility of the records of hire from times I had used their service. I had sometimes borrowed their scooters to take on holiday though, not just for shopping in town. I argued that despite having my own self propelled wheelchair, I was not able to mobilise the required 50 metres. Hence I made extensive use of shopmobility hire scheme, with the record of hire as supporting evidence.

My appeal was successful at reconsideration stage.

BUT please be aware that the evidence was used constructively to support my argument. I would not have included it without a full explanation regarding the need for motorised aid because I am not able to manage a elf propelled wheelchair.

Best of luck

I meant SELF propelled in previous post.
