I posted my ESA50 off to the wembley Atos p.o box address on Tues 5th March using special delivery -guaranteed by 1pm yesterday the 6th, which was my deadline.
The p.o. track and trace has only shown up this morning with the delivery date as todays 7th March, and there is no signature displayed.
I am very worried that Atos will simply state the form was received late and terminate my transition claim. I don't know who to contact since the Atos letter did not include a telephone number.I am wondering about phoning the benefit office that sent my original migration letter, but wonder if it would be better to write and send them a copy of the proof of postage certificate. Could you please advise
many thanks.

Hi l,

This sometimes happens with PO Box delivery addresses.

I do not think there will be a problem, as you can prove that you took all reasonable steps to ensure it was delivered to The ATOS address provided by the deadline given.

If there are any problems, you may have recompense with Royal Mail, as you paid for guaranteed next day delivery.

If you are concerned, you can e-mail ATOS to see whether it has been logged on to their systems as "Received" :

I do a lot of E Bay stuff to fill in time and in my experience Post Office Box Mail counters carry a hand held bar code reader for all recorded service transactions.
But how do ATOS collect their mail in Wembley?Presumably some clerk goes along every morning to the Wembley Area Public Counter like the rest of us and collects a big sackful to take back to the office?Or maybe as they are a big user they get it delivered to them by Post office Van every morning?
Im sceptical about sending in questionaires by "fancy"high priced recorded services as this case shows theres no guarantee at all.
I think these large pre paid beaureaucratic organisations have difficulty "thinking outside the post bag"and are just used to ordinary sized envelopes in ordinary pre paid letters.Anything less is extra work has a whiff of the "Smarty pants"and could actually attract predjudical negative treatment of your claim. With Easter and A big Strike approaching forms could well get delayed a week or so.
It shows you havent really got much stalling time and last minute official deadlines must be met.I would post your form 4 days at shortest before a weekday expiry date to be sure.7 days out if it falls on a holiday or weekend.

Hi J,

The Royal Mail have been opening and distributing mail for DWP/ATOS, for some time.

Hi Lily
I sent my ESA50 to the same ATOS office that you did, it takes them 4-5 days from getting your form to them logging it onto their records.

If you want to check if it's been logged on yet, phone ATOS Customer Services number, quote your national insurance number and ask if it's been logged on yet. If you sent it on Tuesday it might take until tomorrow or Monday to show up.
