Just though I ought to let you know an amazing discovery regarding the Old "DHSS"(1968-1988).As an ex employee of theirs 2 longs years service and sacked under Thatcher as a thank you,I made an enquiry as to the whereabouts of the "personnel/employment records"of the 100,000s former employees of that large GovtDepartment. for reference purposes, under Freedom of Information regarding suspected constructive dismissal. The National Archive had no trace. The DWP now Ministry of Health hadnt a clue of the whereabouts until a clerical employee may have let the cat out of the bag "I think they might have been destroyed because it was before computerisation".
Cant believe it!Is that the way they treat Loyal employees?I mean The Army keeps meticulous records back to the dawn of time,Schools & Universities likewise.
This would appear to mean that Claimants attempting to get verification or evidence for their ATOS cases, former employees of The Civil Service are unable even to get a letter veryfing their employment dates if their Department had a name change or merger in the interim. They could have been a star employee or one from hell-its all forgotten.

Hi J,

I obviously cannot comment regarding any employment issues that you may have with The DWP, this is not within the remit of The Forum.

However pertaining to claimants accessing personal information regarding their benefits, see :
