My mum received an ESA 3 form today, no other numbers just 10/11 faintly, and its is about 50 pages.
It says it is to go to ESA Changes team?
Does this mean she is being assessed yet again! Is it for universal credit? She is worried sick she will have to go through a humiliating medical and another year of fighting! She is 63.
Thanks in advance for anyone who takes the time to answer

Hi mums,

The ESA3 form is the means-testing form for income-related ESA.

Has your mother been on contributary ESA in the WRAG for almost a year? This is the most usual reason for this form appearing without being requested as contributary ESA is time-limited to 365 days when in the WRAG.

The other reason is that the claimant might be entitled to an income-related 'top up' of their contributary benefit.

Income-related ESA 'signposts' the claimant to other beneifts (such as free prescriptions) so it can be well worth having!

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi m,

If it is an ESA3 Form see this : Sample ESA 3 Form , this is purely used to assess your financial situation, and is generally used to see whether a claimant is entitled to Income Related ESA.

An ESA3, has nothing to do with the ESA Works Capability Assessment,(WCA) and which ESA group you are placed in. (WRAG or SG).

Being assessed under The WCA, involves filling in an ESA50.

To clarify, you can have a look at the new ESA50 01/13, by downloading it from the link on this page :

Using The PDF Version Of The ESA50 Questionnaire

Hi This is very useful Bro 58 as in my earlier posts to the forum I also enquired if there existed a sample one but not having any more information I enquired at the local Job Centre as some Posters had suggested they might stock them. However they said that only Glasgow had them.
Make the most of it .I had to read it online because the print out copy permission is locked.
