Confused over DLA to PIP migration.

I currently had my DLA renewed until 2017. I've read conflicting reports on the period of migration to PIP. Some suggest 2015, others Feb 2014 and I've seen another for Oct 2013. Can anyone clarify which one is correct. Thank you.

Hi Doris,

For new applications, PIP will commence in April for those in the Pilot areas and June for everyone else. People currently on DLA should expect to be 'invited' to apply for PIP when their current award is due to end. Those with indefinite awards will not be contacted until at least 2015.

Its the information contained in the Disability Rights UK Factsheet that is giving me an headach.

"Fixed-term DLA award recipients whose award expires from the end of February 2014 "

I take that to mean I could be migrated from DLA to PIP anytime from Feb 2014 ?

I think this is the bit that is relvant to you

"All remaining claimants in receipt of a DLA award will be invited to make a
claim for PIP. DWP will randomly select those recipients of DLA in receipt
of an indefinite award or a fixed term award and notify them about what they
need to do to claim PIP. "

This will take place from October 2015.

Hi D,

I don't know where the Feb 2014 date has come from.

If you have a fixed DLA award until 2017, then unless you are reassessed under : The Right Payment Programme , you will be invited to apply for PIP when your current DLA award is coming to an end.

Other scenarios that could effect you are, if you requested a review due to a change in circumstances before October 2013, you would be reviewed under DLA criteria, if the review was requested after October 2013, it would be under PIP criteria.

Have a look at this post in our PIP Spotlight Topic :

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/forum?view=top...85481&start=18#97035

Therefore, unless you have a review due to a change in circumstances or are reviewed under the Right Payment Programme, you should be invited to apply for PIP circa 2017.

I've not seen that on any DWP site, just in the Disability Rights UK Factsheet and in the B&W guide.
