Was wondering if anybody can help. I've just had my letter through to say that DWP are going to be reassessing me for possible ESA having been on IB. I've been told they're going to be ringing me first because they want to 'check my identity' amongst other things and to talk to me and will then send my form out to me. Apparently, this could be a guise for a possible telephone interview and was wondering if anyone has has anything similar happen to them and what you would suggest? Am under a psychiatrist and was advised this morning to refer to him. If you have any thoughts on this, would be much appreciated. Am already anxious and know I have a long way to go with filling in forms etc but thanks very much to this genius website. Thank you.

The phone call is to check that you have received the letter, this confirms that the address on file is correct and to check whether you have any questions on the transfer process, it will not be a telephone interview, although it may feel like it is :)

You do not need to take the call, or to phone the DWP to confirm receipt of the letter.

If you do not, the DWP will assume the address is correct and move to the next stage of the transfer which is to issue an ESA50, you should expect to receive this within 10-14 days and should contact the DWP if you do not.
