No problem k !! :)

No, it is far better for the Mods if all PIP related queries are kept to the one PIP topic, no matter "what" that PIP query may be, all ESA queries are kept to the one ESA topic, and the same goes for AA and DLA !!

I think it makes it easier for the member as well.

No, The DWP Case Manager (DM) will not make a decision before first receiving recommendations back from The Assessment Provider (AP) in the form of a PA4 Medical Report !!

PIP DM's are not medically qualified at all, AP's are also known as "Medical Services" and they advise the PIP DM on the "Medical" aspects of your claim, with respect to the limitations that you suffer.

It is possible for The AP to carry out a paper based assessment if they consider that you have provided enough evidnece.

However, The AP would still compile a PA4 Report including their recommendations and return that to The PIP DM.

The PIP DM should then look at all the evidence that they have including your PIP 2, The PA4, and any other evidence that you have provided and make a decision on the "balance of probabilities" after taking all the evidence into account !!

So The AP carries out the "Medical" side of your assessment, and The PIP DM compares the evidence to the relevant PIP Legislation to see whether you qualify.

Hi k

As you can see, you now have all your PIP related queries in the one PIP Topic under the title :

"KATE's PIP Queries Topic !!!" I have also put an Exclamation Mark icon next to the topic title so that it stands out.

Please Bookmark/Favourite this page so that you can reply back to it with any further PIP related queries.

Although I asked for Home Assessment on my PIP2 form, I've been sent an appointment for 8.30am about 40 miles away (50mins AA route planner calculation). That's not good for me.

The next step is to ring them & point out a letter was sent to them after my PIP form was returned, drawing their attention to the reasons for a Home Visit request.

I'm worried that they will :

(i) not consider a Home Visit

and/or

(ii) just give me another impossible appointment.

Is there anything you can suggest please to move my brain on from this "stuck in panic" mode.

My GP did say he would support a Home Visit weeks ago but no letter yet.

I know Sheila & Foss have posted "Stick to your Guns" messages - (so grateful to hear their strength). But what if there's a Monster on the end of the phone (there were a few on the PIP phones).

When Gordon said "they are required to give 7 days written notice of an appointment."
(1) Does that mean the AP (Capita) will take my request for another appointment over the phone & then send a letter when their machine finds the next available appointment.

or

(2) Do they tell you the new appointment date & time over the phone when you ring telling them that the first appointment is unsuitable?

Is the person at Capita that takes the call to re-arrange Assessment appointments also able to decide whether to give Home Visit assessments?

Many many thanks.

If your GP has not written to Capita in support of a home assessment yet, then it is unlikely that one will be agreed to, you need to push them to supply a suitable letter as quickly as possible.

You don't say when the appointment is, but I would wait as close to the date as you can before contacting them to ensure that your GP's letter has been received.

If you cancel the current date then Capita will book a new appointment and write to you with the details. They may try and book a date with you while you are on the phone but you can ask for them to contact you in writing, especially if they offer you a short notice appointment.

Thank you Gordon.

How close to that unsuitable 1st appointment date can I ring Capita to cancel - the day before?

I'll do my best to get that letter recommending a Home Visit from the GP asap. If I don't get it in time - will Capita take any notice of a note from just anyone who knows me?

So, if Capita try and give me another appointment over the telephone, particularly a short notice one, I just say "No thank you - there is a 7 day notice period which I would like you to give me & can you put it in writing." & they must do that?

Many thanks

PS Why does my query have a red excalmation mark next to it ? I hope I've not done something wrong!
