Oh ! So could someone in the right circumstances financially and in the support group get two lots of 109.65 a week, i mean receive £219.30 in a week via CBESA and IRESA?

No! That's not what I said!!!

Ignoring any deductions due to your circumstances.

If you are only eligible for ESA(CB) then you would receive for the SG.

£73.10 - Personal Allowance
£36.55 - Support Group
=====
£109.65

If you are eligible for ESA(IR) then it will be

£73.10 - Personal Allowance
£36.55 - Support Group
£15.90 - Enhanced Disability Premium
=====
£125.55

If you can receive both then it will be as ESA(IR) except the Personal Allowance and SG will be ESA(CB).

Hi, a bit of a strange question but I have reasons - have you ever heard of an ESA Decision Maker, if needing to put a claimant into a group quickly, accessing a past successful PIP claim to gain information to see if a claimant could go in the support group?

DM's can use a PIP report to help them make a Decision, but a PIP report cannot replace the need for an ESA assessment. Even where there are crossovers between the two benefits, the actual criteria are still different.

Thank you. Can I just check, with IRESA, the amount you get paid obviously varies according to your bank balance. The ESA people have your bank statements when you start a claim but as your bank balance is going to decrease or increase following the start of the claim, are you meant to keep notifying the ESA people. I mean say for instance your bank balance was £9000 when you started the claim but say £7000 a couple of months later, do you have to phone the ESA people? If so, with what frequency do you need to keep informing the ESA people of bank balance changes, what counts as a significant monetary change, a thousand or two???

It only applies if your total assets and savings are more than £6000 and less than £16,000.

The deduction is £1 for every £250 in excess of the £6000, so in principle you could notify them every time you go through a £250 threshold, but given all of the paperwork that would be involved you might want to choose a slightly longer period.
