Yes the letter states that I definitely need to phone up by a certain date to get an application form for PIP n that if I don't my DLA will stop. It is definitely NOT one of those letters just saying that DLA will change to PIP sometime in the future ( I've had that letter a while ago).

What length of time am I given to fill in PIP form? From receiving it to sending it back. Is it 3 months as with DLA or 4 weeks as with ESA or something else?

Then I'm afraid you must make a claim for PIP, If yo don't then your DLA will be closed.

It's four weeks but this will include the time it takes to arrive, if you have problems then you can ask for a two week extension.

If you have a look at our PIP Claim guide, the process and how to complete the PIP2 is explained in some detail.

PIP application, transferring from DLA
Somewhere, I think on your pip guide, you state , after one has completed pip1 form on the phone (with DWP,) a copy will be sent in post, for one to check, alter if necessary, and return, n after they receive it back, then Pip 2 how your conditions affect you, will be sent in post to complete. I filled in pip 1 on phone on 19th & 20th may, I stated I wanted to be sent a copy of it and was told yes, again I said you will be sending it won't you, yes they replied. I was not sent pip1, instead sent pip 2 ( and it took them over a week to send this to me), I asked for extra 2 weeks to complete it, due to mental illnesses. I still have not received copy of pip1 form, even after 2 polite phone calls to DWP from CAB citizens advice bureau, DWP just state that they will be sending it. I am not willing to return pip2 until I have seen, read and altered pip1, because I was not happy with the way it was filled in,they did not write down exactly what we said, n mistakes were made, n I don't know what to do, Do you know what the correct/ legal procedure is regarding this ( sending me copy of pip 1) ? I'm beginning to think DWP have got reasons for not wanting to send it to me. CAB were reluctant to write a letter of complaint, they said because it will take a week or two to get to the right person n for them to read it. Also when my mum n I filled in pip1 on the phone, the DWP man, AnDy,asked if I want documents from my DLA application( that I filled in 1 year ago) to be used for my pIP application, I stated that I wanted to see them first, he said that he needed to speak to his supervisor/ superior, after about 5 minutes on hold, either we got cutt off or he put phone down, he didn't phone us back, we gave up after an hour of calling back and waiting, the next day we phoned again someone else Colette (from DWP) whom filled in rest of form over phone, but she didn't ask that question, so I don't know what they put on the form. I haven't been sent copy of any of the documents that I sent with DLA form. Again do you know the correct/ legal procedure regarding this? Since asking for additional 2 weeks to complete pip2 , I have been inpatient in hospital ( just under 24 hrs ) and I was not able to do any of the form for 3 days after due to pain, am I able to ask for more time to fill in form because of this? Is there any other reason that DWP can give me extra time to fill in form? ( bearing in mind that I got additional 2 weeks due to mental illnesses). I am also dyslexic, suffer from chronic pain and chronic fatigue amongst other things. Thanks.
