hi gordon, i sent my appeal off nearly 2 weeks ago , do you have a idea of how long it would take roughly to hear back from anyone i know it can be a long time from reading on here of other peoples posts ,,i sent it off recorded delivery first class ,ive read up on the guides of doing your submissions and have started on some of the descriptors as a rough guide for now ,i, requested a letter from my G.P even though she has clearly stated they dont go into detail it will be just a formal letter but i guess it better than nothing, my GP has retired so have a new dr now and shes not that helpfull , my daughter who cares for me most days has also wrote a statement of what she actualy does for me and reasons why , and also my parent have wrote a statement saying how they manage my bugeting and reason why ime unable to myself , also i wanted to ask, because ive ticked the box for a oral hearing ,,if i was to change my mind and go for the paper hearing as with my agrophobia and severe anxiety ime not even sure if i could actualy go there and go through with it ,,and also i have been advised that because of my agrophobia and being housboud it could actualy weaken my case if i was to attend appeal as they would assume ive managed to get there so ime able to go out ,so am realy undecided of whats best to do ,how do i actualy go about asking for it to be changed to a paper appeal if i decide that ,? any helpfull information would be much appreaciated,.

I would chase the Tribunal Service as I would expect you to have had confirmation of your request by now.

You can switch to a Paper Hearing (that you do not attend), at any time. If you have agoraphobia then you will need to explain how you have attended a hearing, but this needs to be balanced against the issue of Paper hearing being statistically less successful than Oral ones.

If you decide to switch to a Paper hearing then you need to ring the TS as soon as possible and follow up the instruction in writing. As Paper hearings are held without notice you should make sure that all of the information you want to be considered by the panel has already been sent.

thanks gordon,
glad i asked now as wasnt sure how long to wait until i heard anything,,,ile ring them tommorow and chase it up .and also ask to change it to a paper appeal same time as i was advised by catchup ,in my area to put down for a oral appeal but i know it going to be impossible for me to be able to get there never mind go through it ,so even though the percentage of success is lower it better than not trying at all i guess,. :)

I think it more likely to be the acknowledgement of your appeal.

recieved the formal letter saying they have recieved my appeal ,, does anyone know how long it takes untill you recieve the pack with all information ? and would it say in there if capita had contacted my G.P for information ,ive asked my new G.P for a letter as my doctor has retired but there a £25 charge for this and she has said she only does a formal letter not in detail,. so i was hoping to see what it says in the reports first as if all information is there its pointless me wasting £25 for a letter that would basicaly say the same as they already know ,.
thanks for any replies with advice ,
