WCA/ESA decision and the PhantomWheelchar was created by Bill24chev
My wife is waiting for her review WCA, it was postponed for yesterday by Maximus.

I have been reading the Rightsnet Forum and there have been a number of cases were no points awarded for mobility because DM relying on the mobilise by wheelchair without checking if wheelcjhair was appropriate.

This coudl affect wife's claim because she cannot use a wheel chair because of damaged wrist and shoulder. I have a feeling that this id reason for having to attend a new WCA because previous wca scored nil points but was overturned on Appeal to support group,. awardedc15points for mobility.

Shoulder and Wrist mentioned in ESA50 but do we need to emphasize this at WCA?

Hello Bill24chev

I think there is no doubt that you will have to emphasize that your wife is unable to use a self-propelled wheelchair because of damage to hand/arm. It really should go without saying that an aid is useless if you can't use it independently.

If you have evidence from your wife's GP and/or Consultant, or other medical professionals, I would take that also to show as proof of her inability to mobilise independently. I expect you will have mentioned her overturned award at Appeal?

Good luck with the WCA. :)

The ongoing Saga of the wife's WCA

WCA was listed for PM 12thJjuly. This cancelled by Maximus (AM 12th) because no HCP available that day.

Rescheduled for today at 10.30(about six other claimants also scheduled for 10.03 but only four HCP;'s available. waited out turn until 11.30 .Then the HCP detailed to carry out assessment came out to us to say " because wife's medical conditions included a Central Nervous System problem"
she was not qualified (or any of the other three HCP's) to carry out her WCA

Rescheduled for next month but at least they confirmed that it would be recorded but(on cassette tape).

When a previous WCA, for Son, recorded I seem to remember ATOS offering either CD or cassette and we have DVD but no Cassette recorder.
I will be making a trip around charity shops to find a working cassette recorder.

Thanks for the update. I am sorry this is dragging on in this manner :(

I had my recent WCA recorded and was handed a tape cassette at the end. I commented that I would expect any future WCA recording to be inscribed in stone the way things seem to be going!

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

I have done a bit of research on which HCP;s are qualified to carry out assessments when claimant has Central Nervous System or other neurological diagnosis and found this

www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/list_of_d...ions#incoming-399043

Scroll down to the two attachments.

Although it is from 2012/13 and an ATOS document I wouldddxpect Maximus have similer guidance
