The points and the award length should be separate.
Award length should consider the likelihood or change and/or adaption by the claimant. Whilst we have seen members with Enhanced awards for both elements get longer awards, including on-going awards, we have also seen them get 3-5 year awards.
Although you can challenge the award length solely, neither the DWP (at MR) or an appeal panel are limited to only this aspect of your claim and they can both expand their review to the whole award, so you must consider the risk to your award.

Well, coincidence or not I have no idea, but I submitted my Appeal on Monday and it arrived HMCTS yesterday by special delivery.
This morning I received a call from the DM at DWP who carried out the MR to say there was an 'error' on the MR letter and the award duration should have been ongoing/10 years, guessing they are one and the same. They said a revised letter to reflect that is on it's way.
It does seem a bit too quick for the Appeal paperwork to have prompted the change but whatever I am utterly delighted and relieved.
Again my thanks to all at B&W for your help and always being there to offer encouragement and guidance.

Glad to hear you have got the award length sorted.
Yes this is an on-going award the DWP add the caveat that they will reassess in 10 years, we'll have to wait and see whether that happens or not.
