Or is something else going on? Not sure whether to be worried or not!

The DWP have no in-house medical support for PIP so they will have referred it back to the assessor if their were anomalies between your evidence and the assessor's report that the assessor was unable to explain.

Thank you Gordon. :)

There certainly were anomalies! Do they actually ask the original assessor about this stuff? Send it back to the person who assessed you at the Face to Face thing? Sorry if am being thick - seems wrong to send it back to the person who got you refused level of PIP you think entitled to.

I think it will depend on the nature of the problems, in the majority of cases I think it likely that it will be the assessor, but there is supposed to be a team for dealing with issues outside of an assessors area of responsibility, for example symptoms of conditions, prognosis's, etc.

I've been thinking about Atos getting in touch with my Counsellor. I'm sure Counsellor will attest to my difficulties with walking - whenever I visit they see me staggering to car hanging on to husband and leaning on walking stick when I leave. Distance prob 5-7 metres at a guess. Also they have to support me into their living room after I've walked to front door on arrival.

But I'm wondering if Atos want to look at my mental health issues? Well, it's not so much mental health as cognitive difficulties that I highlighted some of in my MR letter. eg I have issues with engaging with other people - this was just dismissed by assessor who said I spoke to my neighbours... Yes, possibly once or twice a month for less than 5 minutes! I hardly think that counts as "engaging with other people".

Anyway, my question is more about do you think I'm right in thinking the reason Atos has contacted Counsellor could be indicative of them looking further at the more mental health issues than the physical ones. Will be seeing GP tomorrow after Counsellor, so if she's had any contact from Atos as well that will be interesting.

If you are seeing your Counsellor then I would ask them rather than trying to second guess what ATOS are or are not doing, I gave up trying to do this long ago. :(
