Getting an extension to completing PIP2 form

Hi

I've now completed my PIP2 and have a letter from my GP to send with it. Should I send in the original letter or a photocopy of the letter?

I have other supporting evidence to send in too but because those are letters that were originally sent and addressed to me can I just send photocopies of these? One, for example, is a care plan which is personally addressed to me (unlike the GP letter which is addressed to "to whom it may concern") though my CPN provided it so I could send it in to the DWP as she knows I am currently on DLA and am having to claim PIP. I have scanned everything so do have a copy of everything on my computer.

The PIP2 has to be with the DWP by 24 September (which is next Saturday so effectively by 23 September) so I will be posting it on Monday morning. The envelope is 2nd class but I want to send it first class and make sure it arrives via tracking. What is the best way to send it? Signed For 1st Class?

Hi Robbie,

You should never send original documents to DWP unless they specifically tell you to! Send copies of everything and keep the originals for your own records.

However you send it, you should make sure that it will be signed for on delivery (if you can afford it).

Thanks Mrs Hurtyback. I had thought that with a GP letter the DWP would have wanted the original but thinking about it, I think it now just all gets scanned anyway when the DWP receive it and before anyone in PIP gets to actually see it.

Can I just ask about two other documents I am sending in - a repeat prescription list (the part that is at the back of a prescription) and a supporting letter from my carer (a family member). The latter is handwritten so should I send this original letter in or a photocopy? And for the repeat prescription list should I send the original in rather than a photocopy?

I just remember the days when the DWP used to insist on original documents being sent in rather than photocopies as they would sometimes not accept the latter, depending on what the document was. The PIP2 form and accompanying notes aren't wholly clear on whether all documents submitted to support a PIP claim can be copies.

I've now got the dreaded f2f assessment next Tuesday. To be honest I'm not that hopeful as I self-scored myself as just receiving 8 points for daily living and 4 points for mobility. Fingers crossed I at least get the daily living component but I fear the worse. it's not just the loss of DLA I'm worried about but the cut it will lead to in my ESA (I get the Severe Disability Premium and the enhanced disability premium.

If the worse does come to the worse can anyone hazard a guess as to when I will receive the dreaded brown envelope from the DWP? I know it probably depends on the individual claim but I have read here and elsewhere that with the DLA to PIP assessments in full swing there is something of a backlog with decisions being made. Added to that the fact that DLA then continues for a further four weeks does anyone think my DLA would cease this side of the New Year? Again, I know no-one can say with any certainty but some indication would be helpful.

I'm trying to put as much of my DLA to one side to help offset any massive fall in income that may happen and was just trying to work out how much this could possibly amount to, based on how long it might take before my DLA stops.
