Two possible reasons;

You have supplied additional medical evidence, the DM is not medically trained and so has to refer it to ATOS for comment.

The Assessment report is deemed to be unfit for purpose and ATOS have been asked to revise it or to complete a new assessment.

Thank you Gordon
I believe it is because of new medical evidence. Are Atos medically trained enough to comment on specialist evidence? Also is it a good or bad thing that it has gone back to them.
Thank you for your help

Hi Pamela,

ATOS has employees of various disciplines but I guess whether they will understand will depend on how unusual your condition is and how much the new evidence references the descriptors.

It is not inherently good or bad that your file has been returned to ATOS, it simply means that the DM needs some medical/para-medical input.

Thank you for your reply. The new evidence is that I have spinal compression as a result of previous surgery. This is on top of all my other problems. I have been telling them that I have problems with my hands and balance and this is evidence that this is true; despite the atos professional saying my hands were fine. However this is a letter from my spinal consultant, they have not seen the CT scan that the specialist has seen; so I don't know how they possibly depute it.

Hello
When would Atos change the number of points given during an assessment? In other words what would force them to do so?

Maybe new evidence or if a significant condition had not been assessed.
