Hi

I am sorry for your feelings at this difficult time.
You should not have to wait 2 years to see a psychiatrist and I also live in Lincolnshire and was referred to a psychiatrist by my GP and it was not long before i got to see one. When you see your GP tell him of any other support you have but mention suicidal thoughts and he is likely to speed up any referral to a psychiatrist. Would strongly advise you to get support from mental health worker to be with you at the assessment.

To get PIPS you need to meet the prescriptors, the tick boxes. I also take Quitiopine which is prescribed a mood stabiliser and I know from experience makes you very tired. However it won't get you the benefit. This is why you need the help of your mental health team, if you see someone from the Lincolnshire NHS Mental Health Crisis Team. If not find out how you can be referred maybe with your GP at same time as psychiatrist. Even if you have asked before this process does create anxiety and you will need more support than normal as the process of claiming this benefit if not done in the correct manner can lead to a long fight, better to get it right first tim, by asking for a bit more help.

Good Luck and You are not alone, we all support you.

Best Wishes

Thank you Cipolar

I have just had my appointment with the cmht, she is going to get me a support worker.
I also received an appointment with a consultant at the cmht for the 22nd of February, but the lady that I just saw is putting me forward for psychology as well because she said my needs are very complex and I am acute, to go along side the Dr I will be seeing in February she said there is at least an 18 month wait and that they had just received an email stating that they can only refer 1 person a month from my area for psychology.

She said if I don't get referred by February then the Dr I will be seeing will refer me for it.

So it seems like it will be possibly 2 years from now before I get my first appointment for psychology.

She said I did good with my pip form, and she wrote down all the same answers that were on my pip form, she didn't copy it, it was me answering questions, so she said if pip get in touch with them it will all match up.

I am hoping that the support worker will be able to come to any medicals with me.

Do I need to notify pip that I am getting a support worker and being referred for psychology but there is an incredibly long wait or should I leave it and tell them at the medical if I get one?
Many thanks

Sorry the Dr I am seeing in February is a psychiatrist.

I'll be seeing a psychiatrist and going for psychology too. Well I'll go for psychology eventually

Don't forget that PIP will be paid because of your limitations rather than diagnosis. However, it is a fact that the assessor seems to downplay any mental health problems that are not under specialist care.

I don't think you have an appointment for a face2face assessment yet? If this is the case it would be worth notifying the Assessment Provider that you are now under specialist care (just in case they decide to make a recommendation to DWP without seeing you).

If you do have an appointment for a face2face, you can tell the assessor when you are there (although you can also notify them in writing if you wish).

Thank you Mrs Hurtyback

I don't have a face2face yet for pip or esa, I will call them in the morning to let them know I am now under specialist care.

Should I call both pip and esa? Do I call the dwp or someone else?

I'm so grateful to you guys! I don't think I could have filled those forms in without your help!
It's so nice after it all starting from me being a young child to now 35 years old, finally being listened to and getting the help I so desperately need :)

I would send a letter to the assessment provider - this will be Capita or ATOS deoending on where you live.

Don't forget to mark you name and DOB at the top of every page.
