ALISON, would you mind if I asked what sort of evidence you obtained for your appeal
I have already submitted letters from my gp, care coordinator, and mental health key worker
I don't know what else I could do

hi walker ,.
i sent a written letter to my dr surgery requesting for copies of xtrays ,mh involment ,psychotherapist referall letter as ime still on waiting list to start therapy ,been yr and half already ,!! i didnt have lots of medical records to send to the tribunal ,but what i also did ,was ask my parents and daughter to write a letter to explain the difficulties i have in daily descriptor with examples ,,my parents being elderly and unwell themselves also said they find ing it very hard at there age and that i need extra support as it getting to much for them ,etc,, anyone realy that knows you and your struggles,, state of mh etc,, it all helps and after all they are the ones that see you from day to day so they know more than anyone ,, if your going to a tribunal ,they look at all of your evidence from scratch .and of course if you decide to have a oral appeal they can ask you face to face how you struggle daily etc,, and can see for themselves rather than it written on a piece of paper,.
warm wishes ,
alison :)

that is useful, thank you Alison

I have been with mh team since 2008 but had problems and bits of support long before that
the thing with my family is they don't see me, I live alone
but they do know I have lots of issues when I go out, and that I don't go anywhere unfamiliar, unaccompanied
I guess I could ask them, but like you, my mum is elderly and since she doesn't even know I was on dla (old school, people don't need benefits brigade) - I cant really ask her
I will have a think
thanks again

hi walker,
its disgracefull that we have to be put through this never ending rollercoaster.. of having to prepare a case for ourselves , theres not much help out there and the ones that offer... are so overstrecthed with claimant having to appeal they cant possibly be there for everyone , all the dwp are doing is making the sick and vulneable even more ill , i simply cannot see how they are getting away with these health assesors writing nothing but lies after lies in there reports !!!,, it so humiliating having to be dragged through this system to be made out to be nothing but a scrounger ,cause that how the dwp make you out to be in my opinion ,, one of the question i was asked in appeal was ,, how did you hear about pip and what made you put a claim in for it , ,..!! ,, i answerd the health assessor that did my esa told me i should put in for pip ,before that i didnt know i could possibly qualify for it ,and also because i struggle every day with my illness. mentaly ,plus physically , i have no quality of life i just exsist basically . just remember when you at the tribunal , dont try and put a brave face on and dont feel embarrased if your a nervous wreck or break down in tears , they need to see the real you if your in pain sitting down and have to get up ,,do so ,dont sit there and suffer in pain rather than feel rude by having to stand up ,,i was a absoulute mess through it all from walking in building to leaving ,i have to say i was lucky as they treated me with respect and compasion ,even the security men at entrance could see the distress i was in and called the clerk to greet me before i even went through the security procedure ,, if i can help in any way just ask ,cause i know how worried i was thinking i didnt have much evidence etc ,it obviously does help your case ,but it not about what your diagnosed with its how you struggle daily with the illness or disability you have that they want to know about more than anything ,

thank you so much for your support Alison
I agree they make me feel like some sort of criminal
and it is not helped by inside my head arguing that I am fine fine fine and just bad, all the time

you know in their submission, one of their arguments for being able to plan and follow unfamiliar journey - is that I used to be a teacher

it makes me furious
do they honestly think I would rather spend my days with my head spinning round, scared, and self harming, than go to work with those amazing kids who brought so much to my life

next they will be saying to widows - you cant have any 'death' benefits because 8 years ago your husband was fine
that is how crazy it is

I wasn't doing that job 'the other day' - I haven't worked for years

this really is so hard, and I truly admire you so much for fighting and winning your case

I am dreading going, dreading the building - which I have already had to google and which has already sent me panicking (and I don't even have a date yet)
I think I might ask a friend if she could write something, she did it before a few years back
but the people who know me and see me frequently are the mh team - and since their word is apparently of no consequence, I hold out little hope
