Hi Gordon, dreaded decision letter finally arrived yesterday and sadly DM has gone with the assessor's report i.e. 5 points for care and 0 points on going out activity.
DM also igored my letter as well.
Anyway, I have called in this morning to register MR and have been allowed 30 days to provide further evidence or details of areas I feel DM has overlooked (I will also sending a letter to DWP today confirming my phone request and their reply). I will be doing MR through RNIB legal help team.
RNIB advised me that their legal team will look at my case first and decide whether they would take my case or not. it may take 5 to 7 days from today.
I will keep you posted and also may bother you if I have any questions. Many thanks

Hi Gordon,
I am still waiting for RNIB to contact me.
I have come across the following research report on ''Experiences of PIP for people with sensory loss'' carried out by Natcen (Social Research Agency) published in Sep 2016...it is a good read for people with sensory loss, who are just starting the PIP process.

To me it is an average read...explained the PIP experiences of 16 odd applicants with sensory loss...highlight the shortcomings of the PIP process from view point of visually impaired people (or people with dual sensory loss):
natcen.ac.uk/our-research/research/exper...e-with-sensory-loss/

I feel they should have highlighted the poor Assessors' knowledge and understanding in dealing with Sensory loss cases more than what they did.

Hi Gordon,
Another update with a heavy heart!
RNIB contacted me on 05/07/2017 and decided to help me after reviewing my case. Their Legal team wrote a detailed letter to DWP on my behalf asking for MR...their letter was to the point and very professional. They sent the letter to DWP on 06/07/2017.

I called DWP today to find out that my MR was completed yesterday 18/07/17 and unfortunately decision remained the same - no PIP award for me!
So I have to appeal now, which I will do after getting the MR notice with the help of RNIB.

I will read B&W guide to see what to expect at the Hearing....

One question, since my DLA and my wife's CA has been stopped now...if I win my PIP appeal at the Tribunal - will I get back-dated DLA & CA to the date they were stopped?

If you win your appeal then it will PIP that will be backdated. Your wife should be able to make a new claim for CA starting the same day as the PIP award, this has to be done within one month of the successful appeal.

Hi Lapin,
I also have RP with all the effects it brings with it. I have a Pip claim in progress but your experience with the process doesn't give me much optimism.
What was your outcome after the appeal if you don't mind me asking?

As far as I can see Lapen has not been on the forum since I replied to their last post some three months ago.
