Help required please. Just received my pip result, 6 points for daily living 0 points for mobility. I have epilepsy, sleep apnea plus numerous others. I was an ADI for many years, until I I had my license taken away and forced by a doctor to give it up due to epilepsy. The one thing that tickles me is I came alone, the man whom did the test spoke to my husband. My husband has for the last 25 years worked for the council and now called a liar. I don't drive, don't go out on my own, how did I get there teleportation. Very strange, a doctor takes your license away, the government who run the DVLA take my licence and job away. Now the government take my award away. Doctor, government, DVLA government, PIP government equals I now get no money.' I had no choice in all three, lose license, lose job, now lose pip. Where is the fairness, in all this.

The first stage to challenging a Decision is for you to request a Mandatory Reconsideration, this needs to be done in writing to the DWP, within one month of the Decision, to the office that dealt with your claim, have a look at our PIP MR & Appeal guide for details of the process, the PIP area also has template letters that you can use to make the request with.

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

You should contact the DWP for a copy of the assessment report if you have not already done so, I would phone them but again follow up the request in writing. Once you have the assessment report you will have a better understanding of how the DWP Decision Maker has come to their conclusions and will then be able to argue against them.

Your primary task is to show that you meet the criteria, there are many reasons you may have failed, you need to address each of these but don't get bogged down in criticising the assessment report unless you can clearly show that it is incorrect, it is a lot easier to argue the facts of the situation;

"the assessor recorded that I walked 50m, I did but they have failed to document that I had to stop every 10m for a rest due to breathlessness"

than their opinions

"based on my observations of the claimant walking I believe that they can reliably walk more than 200m.

When you have a better idea of the issues with your claim, come back to the forum and we will do our best to help.

Hello Gordon/ other moderators. You give fantastic help to many, I thank you for this. I was just wondering when you're updating the PIP guide to include information on how to add this to your PIP 2 form. Check back on this page to find out when the updated guide is available. This will help me greatly being epileptic in my letter for MR and appeal when necessary. If it has been done already, sorry I can't find it. Would you kindly point me in the right direction. If it hasn't would you give me some idea when this will be. Thank you very much

Are you talking about the change to when a claimant is at risk, this has already been included in the latest PIP Claim guide.

If this isn't what you were referring to them can you post more details of what you are looking for.
