TOPIC: from DLA to PIP, where to start?

from DLA to PIP, where to start? 2 months 1 day ago #187923

Hi KOT,

You have 1 month, from the date of the 'invitation' letter, in which to start your claim for PIP. This is done by phoning up and completing a PIP1 over the phone. The information you will be asked is in the PIP guide.

If you do not make this call, your DLA payments will be suspended. If you have still not started the claim in another month, your DLA would be stopped completely.

After you have initiated the claim and completed the PIP1, a PIP2 will be sent out (usually within a few weeks). You will have another month, from the date of that letter, in which to get the PIP2 form completed and received by DWP. This is the big form that gives you chance to explain how you meet the descriptors for PIP.

1. Based on what you have posted you need to start your PIP claim by 8 May, if you fail to do this then your DLA payments will be suspended and you will be given a further four weeks to start your claim. If you still fail to start your claim then your DLA will be closed immediately.

2. The questions are listed in the PIP Claim guide.

3. The PIP1 is used for the information required to start your PIP claim, the PIP2 is used for how your disabilities affect you.

Thank you both very much!
Interesting though, my mother's DLA renewal is in august and they've sent an "invite" now in April?
Again thank you very much.

DLA claimants with a fixed term award will currently be invited to claim PIP 20 weeks in advance of the award ending.

Good morning.
i remember that it was strongly advised not to allow the DWP to contact anyone who not named on the form, or something like this, how is it with PIP, do we need to allow them to contact whoever they want?
Thank you .

The DWP won't contact anybody that you have not included in your PIP2 form.
