Hi as you know I am moving from DLA to PIP .I have a new report from one of my consultants and I am not sure at all if he used the correct words as it reads M xx tells me that he suffers chest pain, breathlessness etc even during a 20 metres of walking and pauses several times and can take 4/5 mins to complete. His next paragrapgh says how it leaves me exhausted for rest of day etc and he says this is consistent with his health problems. He also done a a letter in relation to a treadmill test in 2010 (last one on his record) displaying poor exercise ability only on it for 4mins stopped because of fatigue.
Would you think these reports would help me in my claim.

No, DMs are not medically trained so they must get medical advice from either ATOS or Capita before they make a Decision, with the exception of the claimant not meeting the PIP eligibility criteria in the first place.

The "xx tells me" is a negative but it is countered by the "this is consistent with his health problems" so I think it is on the whole positive.

Gordon,
I made the phone call today to start my DLA to PIP transfer and found it rather stressful. I thought about big drop in cases being sent on to Capita etc, and wondered if claimants are being harassed out of their claims. Just giving up !
I was asked for the same information more than once, having to spell out words repeatedly. I too was asked if I wanted to use any parts of my DLA claim as evidence in my new claim. I said it was years since my DLA claim and I would send any new evidence in due course.Statements were read to me on which I had to agree in order to process my claim. There were thinly veiled threats about prosecution and 'other' consequences if my claim was found to be false or inaccurate. The questioner was talking quickly all through, and many times I had to ask her to repeat her comments. Altogether, a daunting experience.

Peter

Based on what Knockview wrote, in there particular case this may have happened, as I expressed in my answer, I'm not convinced that this is the process for all reassessments.
