Dear Benefit and works, I have received notice from DWP that my DLA is ending.
I have received this for 5 years and it was due to review in December.
I have to call by a certain date in August to claim, it is about three weeks from now. Do I use some time to start filling in the PIP form and gather all my evidence now and when would you advise phoning the DWP please.
Any comments are always appreciated from you, I do usually read the forum and try to keep up to date with things, do I add this post to my favourites and post all my questions/advice here ?
Thank you.

Hi Taylor,

It doesn't really matter when you make the call to initiate the PIP claim - although I would not recommend leaving it to the very last minute in case there are any problems (DWP systems off-line or something). The PIP guide explains what information you will need to have on hand when you make the call.

You can use any intervening time gathering your evidence, reading the PIP guides and making notes, if you wish. You cannot start filling out the actual form as it is essential that you return the one you are sent, it will be marked with a unique bar-code linking it to your claim.

Yes, please return to this topic with further questions or comments about your PIP :)

Thank you Mrs Hurtyback,
I will probably phone to initiate my claim 10-14 days prior to the date they gave me.
I plan on answering all the questions on the computer as I can do as much or little at a time and then print the answers to attach to the back of the questionnaire.
What method do you recommend for me to use to point the person reading the form in the correct direction as to where my answers are at the back of the form please.
Thank you.

It is perfectly OK for you to type your answers and attach them as extra pages to the PIP2, just make sure that each page has your full name and NIN at the top and that they are numbered, we recommend "page X of Y" so that it is easy to see if pages are missing.

Make sure you clearly mark on the form where your answers are and on the relevant page that you are answering question X.

Attach the pages to the back of the PIP2 using a staple or make a hole in the top left corner and use a treasury tag, string or ribbon to the form. The pages need to be easily detached so that they can be scanned by the DWP.

Hia Taylor, like you, I've just received my "your DLA is ending" letter, and my stress and anxiety have gone though the roof. I've been receiving DLA for over 10 years and am scared at the prospect of applying for PIP.

Excellent advice. I'd highly recommend especially reading the "84 page guide to claiming PIP" available on this website, and taking time to read it carefully. It's very comprehensive but be aware that it'll take you a few hours to read properly.:S I'll be printing it out (as soon as I buy a printer cartridge) as then I can underline and highlight various parts.

Good luck with your claim, please keep us updated as to how it goes.

Ali.

Dear Moderators, do you still receive a PIP1 form to sign and return to the DWP after the initial phone call for PIP, just checking.
Thanks
