Dear Gordon,

Thank you, I have telephoned DWP already and told them that I am concerned that the paramedic didn't award me any points for my hearing aid that I use and had in on the day also that I am concerned over the award length of only two years ! The DWP lady that I spoke to has made a note on the computer.
If the DWP do only go along with the paramedics report I will ask for a MR.

Thanks.

Dear Gordon,
I want to get ahead with preparing myself for when I receive my decision.
Could I please ask you for your advice on activity 7. Communicating verbally, especially the paragraph from my PA4, regarding the HCP justification for descriptor choice.
"reported difficulty is consistent with functional history that indicated wears a hearing aid, but is able to talk to partner and family on regular basis and GP as needed. Able to use mobile phone make and receive calls and texts but only answer phone when someone is known. MSE demonstrated spoke normal at rapid pace with normal volume, no evidence of cognitive or sensory impairment. Informal observations show could be clearly understood, nothing had to be repeated even though wearing a hearing aid, so therefore reasonable could complete activity reliably and appropriately"

I sent in audiology evidence and ENT specialist letter along with GP report, yet HCP says there is no evidence.

Also I thought that according to the descriptors, the law says I should score points for b. Needs to use an aid or appliance to be able to speak or hear !

Sorry for the long post but I want to make sure that I have understood the descriptors correctly.

Thank you.

This activity looks at your total ability to hear i.e. using both of your ears.

To score you must have hearing problems In both ears sufficient to limit or prevent you hearing a normal conversation.

You say you use a hearing aid, you use the singular so I assume that only one ear is sufficiently effected to require one or that the other ear is totally deaf and a hearing aid would not help.

To score the 2 points for (b) you will need to show that you cannot reliably hear speech without the use of the hearing aid. If you can hear reliably with one ear even if it is restricted then you are unlikely to score the points.

To score higher you need to show that you need Communications Support, this means that you can only reliably hear through another person, an example of this would be someone translating into sign language for you.

Dear Moderators,

I am seeking your advice on a comment that the registered disability analyst said at the start of my recent PIP consultation please,
"I've seen the document, I've not had a chance to read all of it, but I've picked things out of it"

Would you say that this is something that is acceptable ?
Surely if everything has not been read, how can a full and complete report be generated with all of the facts.

Thanks.

I don't think it is acceptable but doubt that a DWP Decision Maker will take the same view.

As to the report, you would need to show that it was incomplete by highlighting information from your document that was not included in the assessors report.

Dear Gordon,

Thank you for your advice, my partner covertly recorded my PIP consultation and everything can be heard very clearly.

I am concerned because for activity 4.Washing and bathing the HCP has taken in to account my very poor motivation and scored c for this, but the HCP failed to record anything at all to do with my OCD with regards to the excessive time that it takes me to do it due to repetitive rituals and behaviour.
In fact the whole PA4 seems to miss out on reporting my limitations with regards to my OCD and mainly reports on my lack of motivation, even though I filled the PIP2 in very thoroughly and very well detailed, thanks to BandW. I included evidence from my GP, audiology reports, ENT specialist letter, prescription list. With my extra information and evidence I sent the document was over 70 pages.

Maybe that is why the HCP said that they did not have chance to read it, I am upset and disappointed after it took my partner and I two and a half weeks to complete the PIP2 and put together all the extra information. It make me wonder if it is all worth the extra anxiety and upset, especially if no one is going to read it properly or at all.

Thanks for advice Gordon, just had to let off steam.
