Ok thank you....so the important thing is to get a decision there and then about the home assessment? If they're non commital and say 'we'll write to you in a week' or something similar, I''ll have say I'd like to know now and if necessary refer to Friday's appointment?
Is the cancelling seen as a refusal to attend consequently stopping of the claim?

Yes if they haven't made a decision then you may need to mention Friday, I'm sure that the person you are talking to will have this information on the their screen anyway, so you may need to press them for an answer and this may mean your having to phone again, may be as late as Thursday, you will have to see what happens.

If the current appointment is cancelled or moved ( I doubt the latter will happen), for any reason other than a home assessment replacing then they will return your file to the DWP as failing to attend and this will almost certainly result in your claim being closed.

If they don't allow a home assessment, will you be able to attend at their offices?

Thank you Gordon that's clear.
I'm not sure...i'll have to ask someone to drive me perhaps and allow extra time because of triggering panic attacks and IBS issues & needing a loo alot.....not sure how I'll manage really though...thanks for all of your help.

Hello

i'm adding to my message from last night just to say that a letter hasn't arrived today regarding a home assessment so will need to ring them however, also not heard from them regarding my request for the assessment to be recorded....whether they offer a home visit or if they insist on my attending Friday's appointment and will have to ask for that too -is there anything I need to be mindful of for this too please?

Thank you

Hello Sue
I had my home assessment yesterday and though I was very anxious I wasn't as bad as I would have been if I had to go to a centre .
The lady was extremely nice and did her very best to keep me calm.
Instead of rigidly following the form that I had sent them, it was more of an informal chat, touching on all of the points. She didn't look around my home, she just asked how I manage to get from room to room, and what aids I use.
It lasted just over an hour all in and she advised more than once, that if I don't get the response I expect I must appeal (she said be re-assessed but I'm not sure that is part of the process).
I am hopeful as it went well, but until I get the brown envelope who knows???
I hope you have success too :-)

Hi again
I've just received a message from the assessment centre saying that they've received a letter from my GP and whilst processing it, they've cancelled my appointmaent and there's no need to attend....as it's a recorded message shall I leave it at that as that seems clear or ring them to acknowledge & cna they put that in a letter?

Thanks
