With regard to what you mentioned about the NI conts in the first 2 years, i think she you are claiming cont based ESA (as you and I are, in SG) this means the NI conts continue, I am thinking it will be similar as moving from Incapacity benefit to ESA as in that case they moved it straight over to the cont based ESA. But would welcome clarification on this.

It's impossible to make any comment at the moment, the transfer will require primary legislation and until this is published we will not know how the DWP intend to manage the changeover.

Ok, I just saw this online again on the gov.uk website so looks to be Ok for happy hippy and me

New style ESA works in the same way as contribution-based ESA. Your partner’s income and savings won’t affect how much new style ESA you’re paid.
