PIP claim before award ends was created by Leigh
Hi there, I was awarded the higher level of PIP living component and lower level of mobility back in 2015 and the award was until November 2017, I was asked to complete more paperwork to make sure I was on the right levels etc before my award ended, I have chronic Crohn's disease any my condition has gotten much much, I completed the forms, sent all the supporting evidence and went for my health assessment last month, the meds I am on generally leave me bed ridden so I stopped taking the really strong ones 36 hrs before my assessment, from the advice of this forum I asked what experience she had if IBD, she said she had been a nurse specialising in it for 15 or so years......I had he assessment, she could tell I was in pain as I was crying through a lot more it,I failed the word tests, she told me so, I couldn't do many of the physical tests as they were too painful, today I have been told my award for the living component will be dropped to the lower amount so almost halved and mobility will stay the same, I am in such total shock......when I read their decision there were so many discrepancies and so many things left out, the assessor said a few times how sorry she was as she could see how much pain I was in, I called DWP who agreed and could see major inconsistencies etc and said they would send everything to a case manager today.......I am shaking in pain, I fully expected my living component to remain the same and the mobility to be raised to the higher......am begging for any advice........they are taking money from1 September from their decision and starting my new rate next week which means I can only pay half m bills......having Crohn's makes all this make I flare up so badly......can anyone he!p ?

I have moved your post to it's own topic, we ask members not to post their questions in other's topics as it can easily cause confusion over the advice being asked for and given.

Although the DWP seem to have said that they are going to look at the Decision again, you should consider making a formal request for a Mandatory Reconsideration, this needs to be done in writing to the DWP, within one month of the Decision, to the office that dealt with your claim, have a look at our PIP MR & Appeal guide for details of the process, the PIP area also has template letters that you can use to make the request with.

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

If you have not already done so, request a copy of the assessment report by contacting the DWP office dealing with your claim. It will help you understand how they have come to their Decision.

What activities did you score lower than you expected to?

Thanks Gordon, my cognitive skills are no great, yes, I have asked for a copy of the assessors report twice, they have said they'll send it ......I scored losing eating and drinking, previously I was given a 4 today a 0, on communication a 0 even tough I was in tears for half of the assessment, she apologised as she could see I was in pain as I had told her I had to stop my meds to get there as I was nomally bedridden or on the toilet, mixing with others I scored 0, previous award was 2, so 11/12 on living component.....on mobility my previous score was 4 this time I was given a 0, for planning and following a journey, I cannot drive because of my meds and have constant "accidents" which I told her even if I take 40 immodium tablets.....I told her the only journey I could plan was how to get home, this time they gave me 8 for moving around so had they kept my 4 which I had previously been given I would have the 12 points I needed, they said I was able to visit neighbours, I do see m next door neighbour who is 5 feet away if I need help which I told her.The medical reports were completely wrong, she even said I had failed the word ones and I could only do half of the physical ones because of the pain I was in, the other exercises or "musculoskeletal ones I couldn't do properly and only try with one hand at a time and have been told some of these exercises are for those with mental health conditions not crohns disease, the report said I maintained eye contact and rapport but I was crying in pain ???

Was it a new PIP2 or the AR1 review form that you completed?

All you can do is explain again why you meet the criteria to score those points.

Go back through your forms and the PIP Claim guide to make sure that you meet the criteria defined in the Descriptors. Remember that yo have to complete the activities reliably and on the majority of days.

Hi Gordon, I did all of that and when I read what they had been told by the assessor I could see that's what made them reduce my living component, I didn't take my meds otherwise I would not have been able to go anywhere as I am normally on bestest, there were so many contradictions in both the scores and explanations that even the man I spoke to at DWP yesterday agreed with and was sending an urgent email to a case manager, the drugs I am on alone show how much worse my condition is and I used his forum to help me complete the PIP award review.........how can she say I have good eye contact and had good rapport when I was crying so much because I was in so much pain ? she even apologised a few times saying she was sorry and that she could see I was in a lot of pain, I failed all the word and memory tests which she told me herself ..........no could I complete the physical parts but the report said I was absolutely fine with them.......the lies just go on.......is it the DWP that twist these replies of the assessor ? Or a mix ?

There seem to be somethings that all claimants are able to do at their assessments; make good eye contact, I would love to hear from someone who's report says that they could not do this! Everybody is clean, exactly how dirty do you have to be! Everyone is well kempt, it seems turning up is your pyjamas is still not enough!

All I can say is for you to ignore the comments and explain from scratch, with reference to your evidence, why you meet the descriptors. It may help for you to also explain how you came of your medication for the appointment and in particular any effects that this had on you afterwards.
