Recording of ESA Face-To-Face Assessment was created by Skewedhalo
My face-to-face assessment was scheduled for the 21st September in Portsmouth. I'd sent a letter requesting that it be recorded. This was received by them on the 7th September.

I wanted to put my mind at rest that the recording would actually happen so I phoned to check. I was told that, unfortunately, one set of their equipment had broken so they wouldn't be able to carry out the recording. I wasn't to worry; they have cancelled the appointment and would reschedule as soon as the equipment became available.

It's the 19th. My appointment is on the 21st. Were they actually going to inform me of this before the day? I've been told I will receive a letter from them regarding the cancellation.

I was also told that they like to schedule assessments that are recorded for either first thing in the morning or first thing in the afternoon as they take longer than normal. I had to explain that, as I'd stated on my ESA50, my illness meant I was unable to function in the morning and I needed an appointment as late in the afternoon as possible.

Goodness knows when my rescheduled appointment will be. Talk about prolonging the agony. If it wasn't so essential for me to have the assessment recorded then I think I would have given up by now. :)

They say they've cancelled the appointment on the 21st.

You said in your original post

"It's the 19th. My appointment is on the 21st. Were they actually going to inform me of this before the day? I've been told I will receive a letter from them regarding the cancellation."

This implies that you believe that the appointment on the 21st may still be in place!

For the sake of a phone call versus a missed appointment that might result in your claim being closed, check what is going on.
