Yes, a home assessment is good thing.

It's perfectly OK for you to have notes at the interview but make sure you explain why you are referring to them.

Forgot to ask, will this visit be similar to the old EMP visits for DLA, which I have had several of over the years?

No it's very different, there is a section in the PIP Claim guide that covers the assessment and the questions you are likely to be asked.

I have been reading the questions that I may be asked at f2f. I suffer from chronic anxiety and am useless when talking to strangers. I’m worried that I will make a mess of this f2f.

Would you be going with someone to provide you with support?

Your anxiety is one of your conditions if this is one of the ways that it manifests itself then perhaps it is not the issue that you think it is. One of the PIP Activities is about your ability to mix with others and this will be one of the things that the assessor will be looking at in the interview.
