DLA to PIP, Mandatory Reconsideration rejected

Whilst reading your post, I can totally identify with loosing all will to proceed with a Mandatory Request, and Appeal. I'm in the process of doing a MR and I am so confused, mentally unstable and have no idea what I'm doing as there is SO much information. You gotta say why you disagree, then give examples, and provide supporting evidence to these. I am really battling to find the strength to continue, and I've only just started the MR letter. This whole process has pushed me into a deep depression (thank you DWP for worsening my mental health), and I just want to give up! I'm done with this ... But then, I read this bit in your post:
"Don't give up peeps, IF I can do it with the help of these guides, anyone can!!' & believe you me, I really really struggled, even considered ending it all, as I simply didn't have any fight left in me.I recall another lady on this forum stating the same, "if I can do it, anyone can.... That lady was my ultimate inspiration to not give up & pursue justice"
So, I'm going to pick myself up, wipe away those heavy tears, try plug my brain back into reality and tackle the MR letter as best I can. So thank you for that. If you did it, then perhaps so can I?

Yes absolutely Angela, YOU CAN do it!

Agreed, there is SO much info, it is rather overwhelming.
It took me probably 4-5 days to do my MR letter start to finish- that's whilst suffering from chronic fatigue, mental exhaustion, back spasms and depression.

Some days, just reading all the information on here under the 'paid members guides' , (if your not already a paid member, I would strongly recommend it) would just make my brain frazzle & go into information overload. It was like I was going round in circles.

Eventually this is how I approached it:
I spent time, a day or two, or three purely just reading (with episodes of crying & throwing in the towel of course) everything to do with PIP/DLA in the 'paid members' area paying particular attention to the 'sample/ examples' for any condition/ areas/ sentences/ paragraphs that relate to me. I copied & pasted, (or typed the bits that couldn't be) the relevant sections / templates into a word document & also took screen shots on my iPad, so I could look over whilst in bed and essentially have it as an ultimate check list to ensure I had included everything I needed to.
Once I had all the applicable sections, I spent much time tailoring and adding additional info which was specifically about me.

I spent half a day or so, going through my stash of appointment letters & had them all photocopied in duplicate (thankfully a friend did this for me). This was to disprove what the Atos HP had reported regarding, for example no evidence of cognitive dysfunction, depression etc. The letters were confirmation of appointment letters with liaison psychiatry / Occupational Health/ Psychology. I highlighted where it stated 'department of liaison Psychiatry', with Dr so & so', using this as 'evidence'. After all why the hell would anyone have an abundance of appointments if there was nothing wrong with them!!! I also included copies of letters/ reports from these professionals that were sent to my GP, which clearly reports on the difficulties I am facing with various issues. I numbered the letters in date order, with most recent first, then highlighted the relevant sentences & referenced these (see letter 1, paragraph 2 etc).
I opted for the, "these professionals are specialists in this field and have known me for much longer, the HP only spent 80- 90 minutes with me and has formed a snapshot view of my condition.... " line.

For gods sake I had an MRI scan last November which shows new lesions/scarring on my brain which is why I'm struggling with cognitive function/ speed of recall/ memory etc, and the HP / Decision Maker thought their snapshot opinion was superior to that of all the specialists involved in my care & indeed an MRI Scan

You may opt to do things differently, but this is how I managed it, by breaking down into Bite size tasks opposed to doing my letter at the same time as trying to read & process all the vast information in the guides. Make sure you have plenty of teabags, junk food to fuel you and plenty of tissues.... to wipe away the tears, in fact, No Angela! Save the tears for when you get that brown envelope telling you the decision has been revised and you've been awarded the appropriate rate!
Gosh I can't believe how overwhelming, emotional and a bleeding relief it was getting that revised decision letter!
Apologies this is a bit of a long winded response. Wishing you all the luck in the world xxxx
Oh and don't forget to ask them for a copy of all the info used to make the decision (that's in the guides too) xx
