I asked my doctor for supporting evidence, i have a severe skin condition, the doctor wrote in the report she develops deep swellings in her skin that may prevent her from functioning if they are on her limbs, for instance. Do you think that's strong enough evidence?

Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

I would say that the Dr's report would be of limited help. However, if that is all they are prepared to do, then you will have to work with it.

If you think they might be prepared to give something more detailed, our PIP guide are has notes for GPs.

If you have time, you could consider viewing your GP records and copying anything you think would be helpful.

Requesting your medical records

Charging for medical records

DWP usually allow an extra 2 weeks to complete the PIP forms, just phone and ask.

May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your PIP without having to start a new topic each time. We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it helps us enormously - and I hope you will find it useful too

Thank you Mrs Hurtyback for the quick response, the doctor wrote more to explain my condition but what i was concerned about him using the word may, as may is not certain. Can i also use my DLA decision notes for my tribunal appeal ?

The letter suggests variability in your condition, you need to consider how you deal with this in your form.

Yes, you can use your DLA note but be aware that the criteria for the DLA and PIP are quite different so you need to show why they are applicable to this PIP claim.

thank you Gordon for your reply, another question.
The DLA decision notice said although your needs vary the held you need most of the time
I was on middle rate of DLA for day attention for needing help to get in and out bed, wash and dry, get up and down stairs, eat and drink, manage treatment .
I was also on the higher rate of mobility.
it goes on to say as i have awarded for day attention , I can't consider any help you may need preparing a cooked meal. as I have awarded far day attention, I can't consider any supervision you may need. but I did not score any points for PIP the reason being that for the majority of time I don't need help but my conditions have not improved since I was on DLA. how can explain my case to the tribunal. As may condition varies, when I went for the assessment my condition was better and I told the HP. They used the HP's report which was in accurate to make the decision,

PIP looks at how you are on the majority of days, depending on the activity you may be able to argue that if you are effected for part the day then you should be considered as being effected for the whole of the day.

Some examples. if you have severe pain on waking and it takes several hours for your pain killers to take effect so you cannot dress, then you can argue that that this would be for the whole day and dressing is something that you would reasonably be expected to do first thing.

However, the argument probably would not work for Preparing Food as this would be something that you could do later in the day when the pain killers have taken effect.

Have a good look at the "reliability" criteria as these may help you to lower the criteria that you need to meet.

However, be careful not to present arguments based on your DLA award directly, the criteria and assessment process for PIP is very different.
