Anything I might say would be a guess but I can see no reason why a second assessment would be required unless (a) the original report was sub standard and did not investigate the areas covered by the reports, or (b) they have lost the original report.

If the original report was sufficiently detailed then I would expect Capita to have been able to provide additional comment on the reports, it would account for the delay in sending it to the DWP but not a new assessment.

The report being lost would require a second assessment.

The bottom line is that until the DWP receive a report his claim cannot progress, so you really have no choice but to attend, however, you should use the requirement to push for a second home assessment and you should consider a complaint.

Thank you for your prompt reply Gordon.
Yes it will be another home visit and has been booked in. I really think they have lost it as I have searched the forum and online and this is what the others have said. Capita however said that ' this will make his case stronger!'
Who do I complain to? And I don't see that the additional information I sent (the day after the assessment so over 2 weeks ago) would prompt another assessment - i just said he was sick from work and signed off.

Complaint emailed over

- response received as:
Thank you for your email . A member of the Personal Independence Payment team will respond to you within two working days.

Do you think that they will ask all the questions over again from the beginning or just want an update as to what changed recently?

I guess if they start from the beginning then it proves that they lost the report?

I'm afraid I think it will be start from scratch with a new assessor but you may get lucky.

Happy New Year all. Sorry I could not update as we have had a terrible few weeks. To cut a long story short the 2nd assessment took place. It lasted 3.5 hours. My husband was highly distressed, we heard back from Capita regarding the complaint and they offered compensation as they confirmed that the first report did not meet the criteria.
I chased and chased the new report. Was fobbed off and DWP refused to send the report as apparently they dont send it until a decision is made. I persisted and it was received a couple of days ago.
Today the brown envelope arrived and he was given enhanced on both - so glad this is all over - he has been only given 18 month award as he is on new meds so they will contact him again in 9 months or so to check if his condition has improved.

Thank you the guides and support as this helped me to be very thorough and I included all his appointment letters and the names of everyone he has been seeing regrading his RA. I also sent photos and additional notes of approx 20 -25 pages to ensure they got the full picture of the effect this condition has on his day to day living. He got the exact same points that were noted on the report.
