Gordon, Did you know about the random home visits mentioned by Kris. Is it something they have always done to check on your benefits?

Thanks, J

Yes, they have been going on for some time but you have been insistent that it is Capita doing the interview and not the DWP and that an ESA50 is involved rather than a review of payments.

Hi to all,

I would simply not open my door, as far as i'm concerned they could be con men, burglars, rapists, criminals, murderers.

Why come round to someones home randomly expecting the claimant to let them in unannounced?

And why come round to see if your getting the right benefits?

They know how much you receive, they have computer systems, which all cross reference a claimants benefits wobeit esa,pip bla bla bla . Also housing department know what a claimant receives from the DWP anyway.

So it seems to me its a way for them to snoop into your home, and to invade your privacy. Morelikely DWP bloke or woman is a snoop in reality, recording verbaly through a tape recorder, and videoing with a small hard to see video recording device.

My view is random turning up @ a door equates to a home invasion. A 7 day notice in writing should be sent out. They can't expect a claimant to be in if they turn up on your doorstep with no warning can they? I mean how pathetic is that, most people could be out, dentist, docs, hospital the list is endless.

Its a disgrace and a farce, and a sham.

I think the most likely explanation is that it was a random DWP home visit, Gordon has already said that it couldn't have been Capita so the CPN could have got other things wrong as well.

I don't know what goes on at these visits but it would make sense for the DWP rep to go through the various qualifying criteria to make sure the right level of ESA is being claimed. This could be mistaken for an ESA assessment.

I'm no expert but that would appear the logical explanation to me.
