hi. my husband sent off his ar1 in september, atos phoned last week asking if he could walk,I told them he could as he has mh issues agorophobia, anxiety and several others. They thanked me and said they would do a paper review, which we were glad about.I phoned yesterday and was told by same lady that my husbands case had ben flagged up,Iphoned the new person at atos and was told we would have to have a face to face,in talking i asked her what evidence she was using for the review and she said gp notes.I asked why she was not using the detailed evidence i as his carer had sent the dwp and guess what, they hadnt received it,in conversation she said ignore the letter we sent you for a face to face we can do a paper review, relief again.Luckily i had copies of lost paperwork so sent them yesterday with new evidence from physio recorded delivery,They arrived today at 6am ,I PHONED ATOS AT TWO THEY HAD THE PAPERS BUT TOLD ME THEY HAD TO SEND THEM BACK TO DWP AS HE WILL NEED A FACE TO FACE AT ASSESSMENT CENTRE,sorry. So three changes in one week.is this normal for atos to change mind so quickly and send it back to dwp without decision. she says it is to do with new evidence ie the physiotherapists.I said the physical act of walking was no issue.my husband gets standard mobility for planning journey, but she was insistent papers went back to dwp and he has to have face to face ,if i get gp letter requesting home visit or paper review i dont know who to send it to atos or dwp please can someone help.

In nicest terms, they are stinging you along!

ATOS make the decision on whether a face to face assessment is required not the DWP and I can't see any reason why the evidence that you sent would not be acceptable.

However, it is not clear from your post why he cannot attend, I would not expect a Physiotherapist to be able to comment on your husband's mental health issues.

My husband cannot attend a f2f due to extreme anxiety, agoraphobia, social anxiety and mental health issues. She said that she would only now consider a paper-based review if my husband had a letter from a mental health nurse, but he hasn’t seen the mental health team and has been waiting for ages for an appointment, I asked her if I could get letter from the doctor to stipulate that it was a risk to his health to attend a face to face and she said well you can try it but it probably won’t work .!Atos have considered that his back problems A change in his condition that the physiotherapist wrote the physiotherapist did not comment on his mental health issues so do you think that they are sending it back to the DWP because his back problems I’ve only just come up ?

As I said, the DWP are not involved in assessment decisions, this is entirely the responsibility of the Assessment Provider.

Speak to his GP, they should be able to offer valid testimony as to how he is effected by his mental health issues.

Be aware, if he does not attend an assessment, then his file will be returned to the DWP who may decide to close his claim.

Hi. our doctor is writing a stern letter to atos requesting my husband does not attend a face to face as they have plenty of info, and it would be a risk to his metal and physical health. One thing is concerning me,his first appt was for ftf was dec 5th,atos said on phone to ignore this as they would do paper review,Atos then said he has ftf on dec12th and to ignore initial letter i only have appt letter dated for dec 5th and only atos word over phone to ignore first appt, should i phone up to verify this is correct ,and if so who do i phone Thanks in advance

I know it's a pain but don't leave anything to chance, check with ATOS as to what is going on.
