Hi Jeff,

Thank you for your concern. Actually both Pat and I feel worse about it than we did yesterday :(

What makes it worse, is that we live in a block of apartments for over 55's moving here just a year ago, as it's 100% disabled friendly and less than 100 yards from the seafront.

Pat and I are the youngest residents ( both in our 60's) the majority of residents are in their late 70's, 80's and a few 90 year olds. So whoever shopped me must be deranged.

I'm afraid what with someone setting my mobility scooter alight last week, and now this, we feel someone has a grudge against us for reasons unknown as I've helped several residents to claim Attendance Allowance.

We don't feel that we'll ever settle here now, so have decided to look for somewhere else, although I need a house move like a hole in the head.

Best wishes,

Jim

Oh Jim, I feel so sorry for you. I really think that the disabled have somehow bizarrely become the latest 'acceptable' target for bigotry and fear that thanks to the government thinking it acceptable to use words such as 'scroungers' to describe us, hate crime, such as you have suffered with your scooter (do people think we enjoy using the demeaning buzzy things???) will increase.
Best of luck with your move. What's left of my spirit says dig your feet in and refuse to move but my heart completely understands your need to escape. (Why not put up some CCTV security in the mean time? It may help...)
Tilly x

I hope the police have been informed and the EHRC emailed.

I'm very sorry to hear that Jim. :(

It seems to me to be completely wrong that people can call DWP anonymously with no comeback if their claims prove to be unfounded and/or malicious. :(

It never ceases to amaze me how people can apparently be envious of a motability car or a scooter!

Maybe don't rush into a move -it seems no time since you and Pat moved into your present home -though I can certainly understand that it won't feel much like home when you've being treated so badly.

Don't know what to say Jim so sorry, its such a sorry sad state of affairs, people seem to be losing their sense of humanity and compassion, think it shows just how insecure others are feeling if they can target you in such a way, no excuse though keep strong many people on this site very much appreciate your help and advice, funny thing life what comes around goes around
Take care
Carole :)

Yes, the Police came, but informed me that nothing they could do as the perpetrator was unknown. I didn't e-mail the EHRC, as again they wouldn't be able to take action because the person who set my scooter alight and the person who reported me to the DWP "shop a cheat line' couldn't be identified.
