Hi Thomas

Take a look at the ESA claim guides and see what descriptors you feel that you should score points for in the Work Capacity Assessment. You can then ask your doctor to pay particular attention to this part of the test when writing a letter of support.

If we all get our drs to lay it on thick, then I can see the DWP taking GPs out of the loop...... I dont think as it is the dwp like input from our drs even thought they know us best, but if reports started to be anything than middle of the road reports it could end in tears, I am sure there has already been concerens from the dwp about GPs reports

The other side of the coin of course is atos reports do the opposit make blind men see and lame men walk (women too of course) :)

Hi thomas,

If by 'lay it in a bit thick' you mean exaggerate the effects of your condition then that sounds very unwise indeed.

Asking for accurate evidence that addressess the descriptors is sensible, but I can't imagine that any GP would appreciate being asked to do more than that, much less actually agree to do so.

Appeal tribunals set great store by their impression of the reliability and honesty of the claimant and their evidence. Honesty is by far the best policy when it comes to appeals.

Sorry, but i am still lost! Phone call from DWP asking me to send in anything i disagreed with in medical, support letters from doc and psycholosist and CAB (all sent) told me my money would stay the same (?)so what happens now? Is this a reconsideration or what is it?? I scored 6 pts at medical! At no time did DWP send me a letter explaining things just a phone call asking for all of the above. How long will this take to know where i stand? Absolutely confused and more stressed than ever. Many thanks for your previous help.

Did you send in a GL24, a letter asking for an appeal / reconsideration, or speak on the phone to them?

If you sent a GL24 then you have asked for an appeal which will include a Reconsideration.

Anything else, and techincally you have asked for a Reconsideration, however, your local DWP office may have assumed you wished to appeal and raised the necessary paperwork internally.

The only way to know is to phone and ask, or wait and see.

If it is just a Reconsideration, you are still entitled to lodge an appeal, once you are told the result of the new decision.

Thanks for your help re support letters. I have just checked and the CAB letter has asked for a reconsideration for me not an appeal and no i havent received a gl24 form as a matter of fact all i received was a DWP phone call and copy of medical from atos showing 6 points scored. Will my money be affected until consideration as DWP during phone call said it wont be! many thanks.
