In regards to family and friends letters could they be included as evidence when assessed? If they include (friends) how long they have known you, where, and how often they see you. They see things that we the person are not aware of and can point out what we are like trying to do tasks etc. My friend got her mum to write a letter, her pastor, even the local mind day centre. My husband wants to do one, and just wondered if anyone else had, because the decision maker is supposed to take all evdience into account aren't they? I was thinking of my friends' appeal for dla wrting a letter for that when she needs it, as i have known her for 16 years.

Hi, When renewing my Dla, I had my daughter write a letter explaining all she does to help me. I cannot see it doing any harm, and its usually those closest to you that know you best! Hope that helps.

Letters from Healthcare Prossionals carry weight but so does the sort of evidence you mention. The friends and family will often see that the claimants disabilities are worse than they (the claimant ) realise, or identify aspects the claimant has not themselves noticed or focussed on

Letters from family and friends can indeed be used in relation to DLA and I think that they can be very helpful in providing essential information for the Decision Maker.

I would also add that keeping a diary to copy for your claim can be helpful, if it shows the requisite frequency of care/supervision needs.

I've been keeping a diary for the past 10 days and it really shocked me how much help I need/get and just how often i fall  bit depressing :(
